Holistic Planning

As a financial advisor, I know that many people just like you really believe they have taken care of all their financial issues. A lawyer may have drawn up their wills and maybe even put some trusts in place. An insurance agent may have sold them some life insurance. And a broker may be taking care of investments. Your accountant does your taxes at the end of the year. Are you sure they are all going to work together? I can almost guarantee that these people are not talking to each other. If that’s the case, it’s likely you need a comprehensive, holistic financial professional who will:

  • Look at your current financial situation
  • Help you define your future goals
  • Plan for wealth accumulation
  • Plan for retirement distribution
  • Help you implement the right planning documents
  • Understand the tax issues
  • Negotiate insurance that fits into your whole financial plan
  • Constantly monitor your plan to make sure it remains on track to help meet your goals

A holistic planner is someone who will help you look at all the pieces and communicate with your current advisors to help you get the best from your plan. They should be objective and represent your best interests, first and foremost, in giving this unbiased advice. You should expect to pay a fee for their services. If there is no fee, you should ask how the advisor is compensated.
